PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Can I open my MovieWalk before I get to the starting point?

Yes, you can. The purchased walk will remain available in your app.

What times of day can I walk a MovieWalk?

You can choose any time to start your walk. All the information you need is provided on your smartphone, so you’re not dependent on a guide. However, please note that some locations may be less accessible early in the morning or in the evening. For this reason, we recommend walking during the day.

Can you walk a MovieWalk on weekends or public holidays?

Yes, you can walk any day of the week, as you are not restricted by opening hours. However, some locations may be less accessible early in the morning, in the evening, or on special days. For this reason, we recommend enjoying our MovieWalks during the daytime.

Is a MovieWalk also suitable for exploring the city or its surroundings?

Absolutely! Our walks are designed to take you to places that are interesting to visit, even beyond the film locations. This allows you to rediscover areas through the lens of film and discover spots you might not typically explore.

Is a MovieWalk suitable for all ages?

Yes, in principle, our walks are made for all ages. However, specific film titles may be less suitable for younger children. Besides, the information is written at an adult level. Nevertheless, children often find it fun to navigate smartphones and be actively involved. Even if sometimes a film or series is unsuitable for their eyes.

Is a MovieWalk wheelchair-friendly?

In theory, any MovieWalk is wheelchair-friendly. After all, you and your team can choose the route to each location, ensuring it is accessible for wheelchairs. However, there may be times when you need to take a slight detour, for example, if stairs are present.

Can I participate in a MovieWalk if I have difficulty walking or am not in great physical shape?

Usually, you will walk for about 2-3 hours on our walk, which includes viewing the movie location. However, you can walk at your own pace, so if you need more frequent breaks, you can just take longer. The details page for each MovieWalk provides information on the length of the walk, which is usually around 4 kilometers.

Can I walk a MovieWalk if there are special festivities or events on location?

This varies from location to location and depends on the size of an event. If it's a weekly market on a square, you will be okay with it during the MovieWalk. But if you plan to walk a MovieWalk during big festivities, we advise you to do the walk at a different time. Always check before you walk if there are any major events at a location.

Is a MovieWalk still fun if I already know the city?

Absolutely! Walking a MovieWalk in a city you’re already familiar with allows you to (re)discover it from a completely different perspective—through film. You'll visit lesser-known places and gain new insights about the city, so there will always be something fresh and enjoyable to experience.

Are MovieWalks in different cities similar?

Each city has its own filming locations and unique spots. The concept remains the same, but the content differs from city to city. This also makes it fun to walk a MovieWalk more often in different cities worldwide.

Can a MovieWalk be walked with more than one person?

Yes! Whether you're walking alone, with a partner, or in a group, a MovieWalk offers a unique experience that can be shared or enjoyed solo. We recommend forming teams of two for the best engagement through the app, ensuring everyone is involved in the journey.

Can I take a break from a MovieWalk?

Yes, you can complete a MovieWalk at your own pace, so feel free to take breaks whenever you need. You can pick up right where you left off after your break. Additionally, you can close the app and resume the walk later.

Will there be a guide from MovieWalks at the start location?

No, there won't be any staff present. You can walk the MovieWalks at your convenience using your smartphone. You can begin your walk immediately after purchasing it.

How long is a MovieWalk valid?

Once you purchase a MovieWalk, you can start it whenever you wish; there’s no time limit. The walk will remain accessible in the app linked to the account you used for the purchase, so even if you switch mobile phones, your MovieWalks will still be available.

technical INFORMATION

Which app do I need?

Our walks are available through the MovieWalks app. You can download this app for free, though it offers in-app purchases. Click here for the iOS version or click here for the Android version.

How much space on my device will the app need?

The tour can occupy space on your device, with the average app size ranging from 50 to 300 MB. You can delete the app after your tour to free up space on your device.
Just click the tree vertical points in the walks (right next to the tourinfo) and choose 'delete tour'.

Do I need continuous data?

You don’t need cellular service while touring. Before you start your tour, make sure to download the tour using Wi-Fi or a 4G/5G connection. Once the tour is downloaded, the app does not require a data plan or mobile network access. The only requirement is that GPS must be enabled, which is free to use. However, keep in mind that you will need internet access if you want to use any external links.

Will I run out of battery?

That depends on your device. Using GPS location services do put demand on your device's battery and can cause the battery to drain more quickly. We have tested the app and found that a normal new device battery will last all day using our app. However, we recommend bringing a power bank, especially if you are using an older phone.

Can I use my in-app purchased MovieWalk on multiple phones?

Your in-app purchases are tied to your account. Therefore, you can only use the purchased content with the account you used to make the purchase.

BOOKING INFORMATION

How can I book a MovieWalk?

To book a MovieWalk, download our free MovieWalks app, available for both iOS and Android devices. The app offers in-app purchases for our MovieWalks. You can find the iOS version [here] and the Android version [here].

What payment methods can I use?

The app is free to download, but MovieWalks must be purchased within the app. You can pay for the MovieWalks using your Apple or Google account through the app store.

Do I need to book a date and/or time in advance?

No, you do not need to book in advance! You can walk the MovieWalks whenever you want. Once you make your purchase, you can start walking immediately!

Can I pay by invoice?

Yes, you can pay by invoice. To do this, please send an email to order@moviewalks.com with the number of MovieWalks you wish to purchase, along with your billing address. This invoice option is available only for orders of 50 or more walks, and a billing fee will apply. After we receive your payment, we will send you the necessary information to start your purchased walks.

TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

I don't have a call and data plan, or roaming data. Will the app still work?

Yes, the app will still work without a cellular service while you're touring.

How can I keep my app and walks up-to-date?

The app checks for new content every 24 hours. If you want to check for updated content immediately, simply tap the settings icon and then select "Check for updated content." When you open your updated walk, the info will be updated before you can start walking.

Is the GPS signal reliable?

Yes, the GPS signal is reliable, even in areas where your cell service may not work well. If you get lost or have trouble determining your location during the tour, just continue walking based on the map and you can resume your tour.

My smartphone is having trouble finding the points on the map. Why is this?

Your location settings may not be accurate enough. Try adjusting the GPS settings on your smartphone. You can improve location accuracy in the settings menu.

What should I do if my phone battery runs out during my walk?

Use the best and most recent phone from the team, as it typically has the longest battery life. Ensure that your phone is fully charged, and consider bringing a power bank with you if necessary. If your battery does run out, you can continue on another phone by logging into your Apple or Google account that you used to purchase your walk.

How can I close the MovieWalks app on iOS and Android?

By default, iOS and Android devices do not completely close apps when you exit them; they continue to run in the background. If you want to fully close an app, here’s how to do it:

On iOS // Double-tap on the home button. Swipe along until you see the app icon and screenshot. Swipe up on the screenshot, this closes the app.

On Android // There are different ways to close apps on different versions of Android but this method generally works: Select the ‘Settings’ app. Select ‘Apps’. Tap on your app in the list. Tap the ‘Force Stop’ button

Why can't I hear any sound in the scene clips?

Don't worry; it's not on you! The scene clips are all about the visuals—there's no sound to be heard, just a clip of the scene filmed at the location you're at!

GROUPS

You want to walk with a group of, say, 16 people. How many teams should I make?

We recommend forming teams of 2 people each. This ensures that everyone is actively involved in the walk. With 16 participants, you would need to create 8 teams, which means you would purchase 8 MovieWalks in total.

I am with several teams. Do we all start at the same time?

We recommend starting each team 5/10 minutes apart. This way, teams will not be walking simultaneously, and there won’t be any waiting at the locations, as all groups will follow the same route.

working together
